III. Re-Sourcing
Re-sourcing is the practice of
managing the structure around your
emotional
CORE. It’s the process of self-parenting. This means:
-
Being a nurturing parent (internal mother) to your
Inner Child or CORE
-
Being a protective parent (internalized father) to your
Inner Child or CORE
-
Being in Source (Higher Self) to your Inner Mother and Inner Father.
By self-parenting (nurturing, protecting and providing for your Inner Child), you are balancing your sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems. I call this
Re-Sourcing.
Re-Sourcing (or Re-parenting) gives your CORE the support it needs. In the diagram to the right,
each circle holds the circle inside it.
Many people don’t have a strong internalized mother and father. Why not? We didn’t receive the mothering and the fathering that we needed at key times during our development. Through Re-sourcing, you can become the effective parents that you needed right now.
Rather than focusing on the past and what you didn’t get (which leaves anyone feeling like a powerless and victimized child), you can retrain yourself to be the parent you always wanted. The goal of Source Work isn’t to create a dependency on the therapist. The goal of Source Work is effective
Self-Management.
This means balancing and stabilizing your
structural body (your spine, neck, back, muscles, tendons and ligaments), your
emotional body (described above) and your
energy body – polarity, grounding and integrity. A well-managed life is usually mirrored by a balanced and stable energy body.
